WASHINGTON (AP) ? Maryland authorities are announcing charges against a man accused of threatening to shoot up his workplace and identifying himself as "a joker."
Prince George's County police and prosecutors have scheduled a Wednesday news conference to reveal charges against Neil E. Prescott.
The 28-year-old Crofton man was taken into custody last Friday after the threats were reported to police. He has been receiving an emergency psychiatric evaluation at a hospital. Police say they found several thousand rounds of ammunition and a cache of about two dozen weapons, including semi-automatic rifles and pistols, in his apartment.
Two of his friends told The Associated Press that they couldn't imagine Prescott intended for the comments to be taken seriously.
The news conference is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the county courthouse.
