Provo's streets were once again full of community members on Wednesday morning as the city's annual grand parade made its way through the city. As part of America's Freedom Festival at Provo, the parade included marching bands, floats, giant balloons, performers, politicians and other patriotic displays.
Because of the hot weather, many vendors strolled the streets selling popsicles and drinks to help cool the audience. However, for the Rose family, the heat posed no problem. For the first time in their many years of watching the parade, Garrett and Brooke Rose brought a kiddy pool for their children and relatives to cool off in while watching the parade.
"Our kids are actually having fun and watching the parade instead of being hot and miserable," Garrett Rose said of the usefulness of the pool.
Angie Cleveland spent the morning watching the parade with her family like she did as a child. Now a resident of Clovis, Calif., Cleveland traveled to Provo to spend the holiday in her hometown with relatives.
"It's fun to come back and relive the memories," Cleveland said while watching the parade. "There's no place, other than Provo, that's like this."
