MILAN (AP) -Former England coach Fabio Capello says he will not take charge of Chelsea in the offseason.

Capello has reportedly been in talks with Chelsea about taking over at Stamford Bridge.

The 65-year-old Capello says he's aware of the reports, and adds: "I will not go to Chelsea."

Roberto di Matteo has not been assured of a permanent contract despite leading Chelsea to the Champions League final.

Di Matteo took over after Andre Villas-Boas was fired in March following a 3-1 defeat to Napoli in a last-16, first-leg match.

Capello coached AC Milan, Real Madrid, Roma and Juventus before taking charge of England team in 2008. He quit in February, just four months before the European Championship.
